Collection: SweetGrass Studio. Native American Jewellery.

Most of you know I have Cherokee/Lumbee Lineage and I love sharing anything about this!

So, I am over the Moon to share this gorgeous handmade collection of AUTHENTIC NATIVE AMERICAN Jewellery

Each piece is hand made and all pieces are stamped. They are made by the Navajo Nation and Zuni and each piece holds the most incredible energy of the artist who created them

Being handmade each piece is unique and no two will be the same

Native Americans stamp their silver differently than the usual “westerner” way and theirs always shows “sterling”. Their silver is usually a more oxidised finish and this gives a wonderful rustic character to the jewellery

Often, sawdust is used to set and give stone flexibility from cracking or popping, especially in cuffs. So be wary adjusting to much. This is another reason the jewellery should never be worn whilst showering, it destroys the inner protective layers...

DO NOT WET your jewellery please. Eventually it will remove the oxidised finish over a period of months or years. I simply wipe mine with my damp towel of a night after showering if needed only!

TURQUOISE used originates from mines in Nevada, Arizona and New Mexico  🌵🏹🌵🏹

The blue green shades originate from Nevada and the Blue hues are usually from Arizona

Please don’t expect perfection, these are hand made the traditional way, not on a machine!

The Turquoise is genuine and therefore will contain surface indentations and imperfections, it’s beautifully natural (way better than the manufactured perfect finish stuff in most chain stores, which has been stabilised with other inclusions)

I hope you enjoy our Collection. It is more expensive than our other jewellery, but it holds the unique beauty of Native American Silversmiths, their passion and their talent, to me that is invaluable!

SWEETGRASS STUDIO

Welcome to mine & Wayne’s journey into Silversmithing and into our SweetGrass Studio!

I chose this name as SweetGrass represents peace, beauty, happiness, healing and spirituality. It attracts all that is good to you! 🌿

I wanted to follow in the footsteps of my bloodlines and Ancestors and learn this ancient skill. Silver resonates with our Grandmother Moon. It is favoured by many artists for its purity. We use Pure & Sterling Silver depending on the piece we create.

Our Turquoise originates in the South West USA from either Nevada, Arizona or Mexico Mines. We also use Bamboo Mountain Turquoise and a fave of mine which is pale soft blue Sand Hill Turquoise. Sadly, this mine has now been depleted. So we may not have too many more creations featuring this gorgeous Turquoise. My advice? If you love it buy it! I cannot guarantee we can source it anymore…

The colour of our Asian sourced Turquoise is amazing quality and both are ethically sourced from a very small mining location. Tibet and the World famous Yungai Turquoise. Both varieties have a very earthy hue and the most stunning tones of blue and brown matrix!

Natural turquoise always contains surface indentations and multi coloured hues, this ensures it’s the real deal and not fake.

Enjoy our creations and their pure energy. Each Native American  stamp we use on our pieces has its own meaning! Which I include in the listing beginning.
